POTPOURRI 2001-1

INFORMEX®2001 is scheduled to be held at the Morial Convention Center in New Orleans from January 30 to February 2, 2001.

We will be there in booth number 1106 to greet our principals, clients, customers and friends, and most important, to make new friends.

Please come by our booth for a chat.

Now in our 30th year, we continue to offer a number of services including sales representation, consulting in various fields with specific emphasis on marketing, and most importantly, international commerce and trade information. Jim DeLisi will celebrate 25 years with the company in September, 2001.

I. Lobeco Products, located in Lobeco, South Carolina, regards custom manufacturing as its primary interest.

Fanwood Chemical represents Lobeco to the color industry with intermediates as well as custom manufacturing services with emphasis on caustic fusion and chloro sulfonation.

Bulk storage includes Xylene, Naphthalene, Mono Chlor Benzene, Dimethyl Sulfate, Dimethyl Amine, Ethylene Diamine, Chloro Sulfonic Acid, Ortho Nitro Chloro Benzene and a number of other common reagents.

II. InfraServ Wiesbaden - We are delighted to report a success reflected by the lease taken by a US biotech company at the Kalle-Albert Industrial Park.

Despite what is often said, Germany remains an economic site for the establishment of European business, whether it be production, distribution, research or other activity, particularly at a site such as InfraServ in Wiesbaden where all of the resources necessary are in place and ready to go.

We urge that you consider us if new operations in Europe are in your plans. Anything from a large plant to laboratory or office space is available.

III. Holliday Dyes and Chemicals - As you may have noticed in the trade press, a decision has been made to shut down operations at Huddersfield under the unrelenting pressure of Far Eastern competition.

They are making every effort to manage the shut down in an orderly fashion making the best provision possible for supplies to our customers until new sources can be developed.

One hundred and sixty people will lose their jobs as a consequence of the shut down, including among them Ann-Marie Kirkwood, who has been our boss since the relationship was started in 1994. We wish her well along with all of her colleagues.

IV. Chemo Dynamics - Operations at this excellent facility for process discovery, research and development plus, small lots manufacturing are humming under the direction of operations manager, John Arnett, who is completing his first year.

The new cGMP suites and a vastly upgraded analytical laboratory are in full operation.

We have a number of new clients and customers who have joined the roster we have served for many years in the pharmaceutical and fine chemicals industry.

V. Dixie Chemical - In particular, we draw your attention to Dixie's expanded capacity to do hydrogenation. The new Biazzi Unit is working well coupled to other reactions involved in multi-step synthesis. We have unsurpassed facilities for distillation when required as the final step.
